Dear Walnut Canyon Families:

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I welcome you to the new school year! My name is Yalda Jamal, and I am honored to serve as the proud principal of Walnut Canyon Arts & Technology Magnet School.

I am thrilled to be joining the WC family after nearly two decades in education. Most recently, I served as a site and district administrator in Calabasas, supporting schools in fostering inclusive and high-impact learning environments. Prior to that, I worked as an instructional coach, partnering with teachers across grade levels to strengthen instructional practices and enhance student engagement. I began my career as a middle and high school social studies teacher and also taught in an early college academy elective program—experiences that deeply shaped my belief in the power of meaningful relationships and student-centered learning.

Outside of school, I enjoy hiking, exercising, and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to getting to know our incredible students, families, and staff and to building strong partnerships rooted in trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to student success.
